Roadmap
What we are building, in the order we expect to ship it. Now is work in progress, Next is what we pick up after that, and Later is where we are heading. We change course as we learn from the businesses keeping their books with us, so this page shows direction, not dates.
Updated 12 October 2026.
Now
Live bank feeds for New Zealand
Connect your bank once and new transactions will arrive in your ledger each day, ready for your AI to code. Feeds will be read-only and run through Akahu, and you will be able to disconnect at any time. We will publish feed pricing before feeds ship.
ChatGPT and Codex
Qunei works through the AI assistant you already use. Today that is Claude, Claude Code and Cowork. ChatGPT and OpenAI’s Codex are next, each with its own step-by-step guide like the one for connecting Claude.
Next
File your GST return with Inland Revenue
Qunei works out your GST return today, box by box, and you file it in myIR. Next, you will be able to file it with Inland Revenue from Qunei: your AI will prepare the return, and you will check it and sign in to myIR to give Qunei permission to file it.
Bank feeds for Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States
The same read-only feeds, through an open banking provider in each country, as Akahu is for New Zealand. Australia first, then the United Kingdom and the United States.
OpenClaw and Hermes Agent
Assistants you run yourself and reach from the chat apps you already use. They will connect with limited access, so an assistant that is always on can be allowed to draft entries but not to approve them.
Access to only part of your books
An assistant that sees only part of your books, such as the marketing accounts or one of your ledgers, and nothing else.
Move from Xero
Your AI will bring your chart of accounts, contacts and opening balances across from Xero in conversation, and your history will be plain text from the first day.
Bank rules and matching
Your AI will learn how you code the transactions that repeat, and propose matches between bank lines, invoices and bills for you to confirm.
Reports by any tag
Balance sheet and trial balance by project, department, fund, or any other tag you use. Today you can tag entries, search by any of them, and see profit and loss for any of them.
Later
Tax returns beyond New Zealand
Australian GST and BAS first, then UK VAT, each computed from the same books the way New Zealand GST returns are today.
Books for growing companies
Tax and IFRS views of the same books without keeping a second set, fixed assets and depreciation, period close and lock, and approval rules for who signs off what.
Payroll and foreign currency
Pay runs from your payroll provider arriving as journals, and foreign currency balances revalued at month end.
Groups
Consolidation across ledgers, intercompany eliminations, and an audit pack built from the as-at history your books already keep.
Recently shipped
- Email to your ledger: each ledger can have its own email address, so you forward receipts, supplier bills and statements to it, and they wait in the ledger’s inbox for your AI to turn into drafts.
- Performance reports for New Zealand Tier 3 and Tier 4 charities: the financial statements drawn from your books, with your statement of service performance, accounting policies and notes, ready for your officers to review.
- Budgets set in conversation, with budget against actual line by line, for the whole ledger or one fund, project or other tag, and profit and loss for any tag.
- A live dashboard for every ledger, and reports saved exactly as issued, open to everyone who can read the ledger, with or without an AI.
- Access for expense claims only: staff send in their own claims with a photo of the receipt, on Qunei or through their own AI, and see where each one stands, and nothing else in your books.
- Read-only and draft-only access for any assistant: a draft-only assistant prepares entries and emails you a link, and you approve or discard them on Qunei.
- Who did what: every new entry records the person who made it and the assistant they used, and an approved draft records who drafted it and who approved it.
- A complete copy of any ledger, whenever you want it: download your books as plain text, with every document and attachment, from your workspace or through your AI.
- A list of the assistants connected to your workspace, so you can see each one and disconnect any of them.
- Books in your own currency and financial year: new ledgers in Australian dollars, pounds, US dollars or New Zealand dollars, with a starting chart of accounts and tax codes for Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States or New Zealand, and dates written the way your business writes them.
- Uploads to a ledger’s inbox: receipts, bills and statements kept as evidence beside the entries they support.
- A step-by-step guide to connecting Claude, and Qunei’s skills for it.
- Reports with comparatives and aged receivables, styled with your own brand.
- Invoices that Qunei renders itself, in your brand.
- Daily exchange rates from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
